McGlinn Cancer Institute To Receive Blanket Donations For Local Cancer Patients

About 100 cancer patients at Reading Hospital’s McGlinn Cancer Institute will receive a new blanket thanks to a donation being made by Steve Moyer Subaru in Leesport, Pa., and the local chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society® (LLS).

On Monday, June 25, at 10 a.m., a representative from Steve Moyer Subaru and a local representative from LLS will present the new blankets as well as hand-written messages of hope as part of an effort called “Subaru Loves to Care.” The donation will be made in the lobby of the McGlinn Cancer Institute, located on the ground level of the N-Building at Reading Hospital. Representatives from McGlinn Cancer Institute and the Reading Hospital Foundation will be on hand to accept the donation.

Nationally, Subaru of America and LLS are donating more than 40,000 blankets as a gesture that offers support and “warmth” to cancer patients and their families. The messages of hope from Subaru customers were collected at participating retail locations.

Steve Moyer Subaru is one of close to 400 Subaru retailers participating in the initiative. The LLS is the world’s largest voluntary health agency dedicated to blood cancers such as leukemia and lymphoma.

People who wrote a message of hope received a bracelet that spreads awareness of the partners’ goal to “provide hope and care, one gesture at a time.” The blankets will provide recipients at McGlinn Cancer Institute with both physical warmth and the comforting warmth of knowing that others care.
