Anderson Group, GloFish® Brand Shining Bright with Excellence in Communication Award

“Gloria GloFish® and the Great Dragon” storybook recognized for strategy, creative, and design

Sinking Spring, Pa.  – Anderson Group and GloFish® Brand of Spectrum Brands Pet LLC received The Standard Group’s Excellence in Communication Award in recognition of the interactive storybook “Gloria GloFish® and the Great Dragon.”

“From a great strategic concept, colorful illustration and design, to interactive hidden messages and special use of UV and fluorescent inks, this well-executed storybook is deserving of The Standard Group’s Excellence in Communication Award,” said Thanh Nguyen, CMO, The Standard Group.

The “Gloria GloFish® and the Great Dragon” storybook comes with a GloFish® Flashlight that readers use to discover hidden clues in the book and progress through the story. Also included is a pair of 3D glasses that makes certain colors pop off the page. The storybook is available in specially marked GloFish® Aquarium Kits and is the second in a series of storybooks produced for GloFish®.

“We thought it would be fun to produce a storybook with interaction that connects families directly to their GloFish®,” said VP and Executive Account Director Keith Heberling, Anderson Group. “Our goal for each new storybook is to encourage more children and families to explore the fishkeeping hobby through interactive, shared experiences.”

Anderson Group first crafted and illustrated a story that incorporated looking for hidden symbols. Then, the agency and its partners researched the type of invisible UV ink needed to print actual symbols that could only be revealed by a UV light, while also determining the safest device to use for a UV light. To tie everything back to the fluorescence of GloFish®, Anderson Group also added accents of fluorescent green and flood gloss varnish.

The Excellence in Communication Award is presented to an outstanding project, from a pool of about 4,000 projects that The Standard Group works with annually, for setting new standards of excellence in marketing and advertising. The winner is being recognized for the strategic concept, project management, design, and overall execution. Notable past winners include Heineken USA, Vanguard Charitable, and Armstrong World Industries.

“From the initial concept and script to finished product, we set a clear vision for the experience we wanted for readers. The storybook’s success shows the commitment of our creative staff, the GloFish® marketing team, our illustrator, and partners like The Standard Group, who helped turn that vision into reality,” said Creative Director Jeff Phillips, Anderson Group.
