Berks Heim Information Programs

The Wyomissing Public Library will host two informational programs about Berks Heim Nursing and Rehabilitation on Tuesday, January 8th at 7 PM and again on Saturday, January 12th at 10:30 AM. Both programs are free and open to the public. The Wyomissing Library is located at 9 Reading Boulevard in Wyomissing.

The programs will include discussions of the history of the county nursing home, what it’s like to be a Berks Heim volunteer,  how family members feel about the home, and what the Berks County Commissioners have discussed at their public meetings. The commissioners have been discussing privatization of Berks Heim, which has been owned and operated by Berks County since it was built as an “almshouse” in the nineteenth century.

Speakers include local author Claudia Strauss, long-time volunteer Rosemarie Sullivan Sandman and Crystal Kowalski. community advocate.
