Reading, PA: Author and psychologist Jean M. Twenge, Ph.D., whose research has been featured widely — from Time magazine to Good Morning America — will discuss her most recent book, “iGen: Why Today’s Super-Connected Kids Are Growing Up Less Rebellious, More Tolerant, Less Happy – and Completely Unprepared for Adulthood” in Albright College’s Memorial Chapel, Feb. 8 at 1 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.
Drawing from 11 million surveys and in-depth interviews of young people across the nation, “iGen” is the first book to document the cultural changes shaping today’s teens and young adults (born after 1994), detailing how their changed world has impacted their attitudes, worldviews and mental health.
“iGen is on the verge of the most severe mental health crisis for young people in decades,” writes Twenge. “On the surface, though, everything is fine.”
A professor of psychology at San Diego State University, Twenge is the author of more than 130 scientific publications and six books, including “Generation Me: Why Today’s Young Americans Are More Confident, Assertive, Entitled — and More Miserable Than Ever Before” and “The Narcissism Epidemic: Living in the Age of Entitlement.”
Her research has been featured in Time, Newsweek, The New York Times, USA Today, U.S. News and World Report and The Washington Post, and she has been featured on Today, Good Morning America, CBS This Morning, Fox and Friends, NBC Nightly News, Dateline NBC and National Public Radio.
