Feng Shui in Your Home: Clear your CRAP and stay in balance

Anyone who has worked with me knows that I feel very strongly that clutter can be detrimental to our well-being and our lives. That’s why eliminating clutter or CRAP (Clutter that Robs Anyone of Pleasure) and bringing order to our lives is so important. I recently reread Karen Kingston’s book, Clear Your Clutter with Feng Shui and she says that many people don’t realize how much their clutter affects them. She says, “You may actually fondly believe yours to be an asset. It is only when you start clearing it out that you will realize how much better you feel without it.”

Besides the obvious things that clutter causes: extra cleaning, disorganization/confusion, or a health/fire hazard, Kingston also tells us that having clutter can:

  • make you feel tired and lethargic
  • keep you in the past
  • congest your body and affect your body weight
  • make you procrastinate
  • cause disharmony
  • make you feel ashamed and put your life on hold
  • depress you
  • cost you financially

Finally, clutter ultimately distracts you from the important things that need your attention such as your own self-care and your family.

I had the pleasure of meeting with Feng Shui Consultant, Jay Umble to talk about how he works with his clients to bring more balance to their lives. After you clear out the clutter that could be dulling your sensitivity and enjoyment of life, Umble believes that you can make conscious choices about your living spaces and control the energy around you to your advantage. The essence of Feng Shui is that when we make these choices, everything flows and we can feel better about our lives and ourselves.

A Feng Shui consultation includes a property and home walk through and completion of a short consultation form. By evaluating your property and home he could make note of any blocked energy and other Feng Shui related issues that may need attention. If you want to know how Feng Shui could improve your home and your life, contact Jay Umble at [email protected] or 717-304-2142.
