Bonnie Tribbett Rosario has many fond memories of growing up in the Boyertown area especially those of her pet chickens and her library experiences during her years at New Hanover Upper Frederick Elementary School.
Rosario has captured her memories of reading and learning about animals—especially chickens–in her children’s book “Chicken Girl,” illustrated by Cheryl Crouthamel. The book takes readers along with her and her family on a trip to a nearby farm where they meet many chickens.
Rosariowill be visiting her Boyertown family and hometown, eager to re-introduce herself to the community and sign copies of “Chicken Girl” hoping to inspire young people as she was once inspired by country drives and the animals she adopted throughout her childhood.
Book will be available for purchase and signings held at 3 locations:
- Saturday, April 13, 2019, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the Boyertown Area Community Library, 24 North Reading Avenue, Boyertown, PA;
- Sunday, April 14, 2019, 10:15-11:00 a.m.; and at 1:45-2:30 p.m. at the Colebrookdale Railroad’s Station, 64 South Washington Street, preceding the train’s popular “Bunny Run”; and on
- Monday, April 15, 2019, at New Hanover/Upper Frederick Elementary School.Copies of “Chicken Girl” will also be available at Studio B Art Gallery or online at https://mascotbooks.com. Coops for Troops provides chickens, coops and starter kits to returning veterans, the families of deployed veterans, military schools and VA homes/hospitals. The donation is her way of giving backto the men and women who served heroically and their loved ones who supported them.
After relocating to California in 1986, Rosario finished high school and went on to attend San Diego State Universitywhere she earned her teaching degree and began her elementary teaching career in Imperial Beach, California. Rosario followed her husband to Oahu, Hawaii, where he served and retired from the United States Navy as a Senior Chief, Independent Duty Corpsman.
She now resides with her husband Dutch and 13-year-old son, Ren, in Riverside, California, and teaches Kindergarten in a nearby town, Menifee, California, where she often brings her pet bunny and some chicks each spring to meet her students. This is her 25th year of her beloved profession. Rosario is the daughter of James Tribbett, local optometrist.
