Children’s Programs at Wyomissing Public Library

The following programs for children and their guests will be offered at the Wyomissing Public Library:

On Saturday, June 22 at 10:30 AM, the Yocum Institute will present a performance of Aesop’s Fables. Enjoy discovering life’s BIG lessons in this delightful audience participatory performance of a magical adventure through Aesop’s fables – tales by the Greek storyteller from long, long ago. Meet storytellers (and a storyteller in-training): Wolfie, Syd, Barry and Harriet who introduce a hasty Hare eager to race a steady Tortoise, a very vain bird, a little Boy who cried Wolf and a tiny Mouse who helps a mighty Lion.

On Monday, June 24 at 10 AM local author Dori Hoch, author of “Bunny Brothers, Lost in the Woods,” invites children ages 3 and older to join her at the library for a guided walk through the story of the Bunny Brothers, on the grounds of the library. Ms. Hoch, a retired elementary school teacher and reading specialist, is a fellow of the National Writing Project.

Children and their guests should dress for the weather, since the program will be held outside.

Trees in Summer will be explored during the “Urban Greenplace” program on Wednesday, June 26 at 6 PM. The first in this four-part series took place in spring. Leaf and tree identification will be the topic, followed by  a story, a walk, and craft and snack. This program is for children four and older, and their guests. Note that it will be held at the Wyomissing Stone House.

On Thursday, June 27th the library welcomes children of all ages to Tech-Tacular, at 3 PM. Children can play and learn with some cool tech “toys,” including Code-a-pillar, Bee-bots, Cubetto, Hexbugs, Dash and Spheros. they will also be able to make and take their own Hexbug.
