An accomplished higher education administrator and award-winning teacher who is widely published in computational biology, Fetrow took the reins at Albright College in June 2017, as the first Albright alumnus or alumna president. She holds an Albright Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry and a doctorate in biological chemistry from Pennsylvania State University.

“As anchor institutions in our community, it is important that Reading Hospital and Albright College work together to promote wellbeing and education in Berks County,” said President Fetrow. “Part of Reading Hospital’s mission is to promote health, educate healthcare professionals and participate in clinical research — which aligns well with Albright’s great track record in preparing students for professional careers in health care.” The college offers one-on-one undergraduate research opportunities that students at many other schools don’t experience until graduate school. In addition, more than 90 percent of Albright’s pre-medical students are accepted to medical school.
Fetrow’s ongoing research focuses on understanding the relationships between protein structure, function and dynamics, with a long-range goal of understanding the mechanisms of protein function and improving processes for structure-based drug discovery. She has published more than 80 peer-reviewed or invited articles and is listed as an inventor on five U.S. patents. Her work has been supported by the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation and the American Chemical Society.
In addition to her new role on Reading Hospital’s Board of Trustees, Fetrow serves on the board of directors for Campus Compact and biotechnology software company Quantum Bio, Inc. She serves on advisory boards for the Center for Medical Innovation at Penn State College of Medicine and the Science Research Institute at Conrad Weiser.
