Reading, PA – We are excited to announce Humane Pennsylvania’s 42nd Annual Performance Toyota Walk for the Animals & Walktoberfest will be held at FirstEnergy Stadium in Reading, PA on Saturday, September 21, 2019.

The Walk for the Animals & Walktoberfest is the oldest and largest animal welfare fundraiser in the region that attracts thousands of participants annually, and is supported by animal lovers and their friends across the nation. Featuring live music, goods from local vendors/artisans, a VIP beer and wine garden, ball park concessions, kid’s activities and more, the Walk is a day-long opportunity for diehard supporters to connect and show their passion for the animals we serve.

The Walk for the Animals is the premier family and pet-friendly event that is free and open to the public! However, this event is intended to raise vital funds to help homeless, abused, abandoned and neglected animals in southeastern PA. By pre-registering for the Walk and raising sponsorship funds supporters will make a life and death difference for thousands of animals! Last year, walkers raised over $105,000. This year, we’re hoping that community members can help us raise even more funds for the animals.

This year’s Walk is sponsored by Performance Toyota who believe in our mission to empower people in our communities to increase their capacity to care for animals so that all animals are healthy, safe, and treated humanely.

“Performance Toyota is excited to partner again with Humane Pennsylvania on their Walk for the Animals. Their cutting edge approach to animal welfare in Berks and Lancaster counties has a huge positive impact on the lives of animals and the caregivers who love them. We are proud to support Humane Pennsylvania’s courageous and compassionate dedication to providing lifesaving services to the animals in their care.” – Karen Linder, Charitable Giving Coordinator, Performance Toyota

In conjunction with the Walk, Humane Pennsylvania will be offering a FREE vaccine and microchip clinic through our Healthy Pets Initiative. From 11:30am – 2:00pm, multiple veterinarians will be available at clinic stations, each focused on the goal of microchipping and vaccinating as many dogs as possible in the time available. These services are made possible thanks to the support and generosity of The Giorgi Family Foundation.

Key ways community members can get involved:

  • REGISTER TO WALK! A registration donation of $22 ($12 for kids 17 and under) reserves an official 42nd Annual Performance Toyota Walk for the Animals & Walktoberfest t-shirt and gives supporters the satisfaction of knowing they helped the animals.
  • REGISTER AS A VIP WALKER! Those who are able to donate a little more can receive some cool perks (buffet, beer & wine garden, dog bandana) and help us raise more for the animals.
  • GATHER SPONSOR PLEDGES! If everyone who registered last year had raised $250 in pledges, we would have raised over $300,000!
  • PICK UP A WALK YARD SIGN! Show your neighbors that you’re walking in this year’s Walk for the Animals. Signs can be picked up right out front of the Humane Society of Berks County or the Humane Veterinary Hospital Reading at anytime.

For over 40 years, walkers have been helping to raise funds and awareness in the fight to improve the lives of animals – and having fun doing it! With sponsorships, vendor displays, and VIP (Very Important Pet-Lover) packages available; supporters, their dogs, and families can enjoy a fun day at the ball park!

During Walktoberfest, attendees will be treated to 3 LIVE bands on 2 stages – featuring The Taco Bros, Dibbs & The Detonators, and The Youngers. There will also be a dog contest where pet owners and their pooches can participate in.
