Olivet Re-Opening Plan-Overview

Olivet Boys & Girls Club is looking forward to reopening our club doors for the 2020-2021 school year. While these are challenging and uncertain times, Olivet remains dedicated to the mission of “enabling all young people, especially those who need us the most to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and positive, responsible citizens.” In order to fulfill our mission, meet the needs of club members/families, and maintain safety, we have altered hours of operation, policies, and procedures, which will be briefly described below.

Virtual Learning Support

  • Virtual learning support/monitoring will be provided by Olivet staff & volunteers between 9:00 am-3:00 pm.
    • An expectations memo will be signed by parents/guardians stating that it is the responsibility of parents/families to ensure that schoolwork is being completed and communication with teachers is taking place as needed.
  • All club members will be assigned a specific desk/learning station with individual stations being spaced 6 feet apart
    • Each member will be provided with basic school supplies (labeled with their name & in a Ziploc bag)
  • All club members must bring their chrome book (fully charged) with charging cable and headphones
  • Club members will remain at their desk/learning station for the full day to minimize risk
  • Brain “breaks” and de-masking breaks will be built into the daily routine

Afterschool Programming

  • Olivet afterschool programming will start at 3:00 pm and end at 5:00 pm
  • Starting at 3:00 pm, club members will participate in programs related to recreation, healthy lifestyles, positive action, etc.
  • To minimize risk, club members will stay within a designated group and area throughout programming

Membership Fees & Attendance Expectations

  • Club membership fees will be as follows for the school year:
    • Remote learning support ONLY (8 am-3 pm)-$30
    • Remote learning support AND Afterschool Programming (8 am-6 pm)-$30
    • Afterschool Programming ONLY (3 pm-6 pm)-$20
  • Clear attendance expectations will be communicated with families ahead of time as we anticipate we will not be able to accommodate all families in need.
  • Enrollment will be capped at 50 club members for larger clubs and 20 club members for smaller sites for at least the first two weeks during an initial pilot period with the goal of future expansion as staffing capacity is enhanced

  • At this time, breakfast will NOT be provided; it will be the responsibility of the parent/guardian to ensure the club member has eaten breakfast prior to arriving at the club
  • Lunch will be provided at the club with club members eating meals at their designated desk/learning station
  • Grab & Go dinners will be provided that club members can take with them upon leaving the club

Health/Safety (*Note: This is meant to serve as an overview and not a full description of policies/procedures)

  • In the membership application, parents/guardians will agree to conduct a daily wellness screen (based on 4 questions) to ensure that the club member is healthy enough to attend the club
  • Upon arrival at the club, ALL club members will be required to get a temperature check, hand wash, sanitize, and wear a mask
    • If a club member registers a fever of 100 degrees Fahrenheit or higher, the member will be taken to a separate quarantine area for 15 minutes. His/her temperature will be re-taken, and if it is still above 100 degrees, a parent/guardian will be notified, and the member will need to be picked up immediately
    • Any club member with a fever will need to be fever free for 72 hours and will need to bring a doctor’s note in order to return to the club
  • Parents/Guardians will drop-off/pick-up club members outside club doors and will NOT be allowed to enter the club
  • Mask-wearing will be mandatory throughout the club (except while eating meals)
  • Hand-washing & sanitizing “breaks” will be incorporated into the daily programming schedule for staff & Olivet members
  • If a club member/staff member/Olivet volunteer tests positive, the club will close for 72 hours for deep cleaning
    • Parents/families/staff will be notified immediately
    • Individuals in close contact with the positive individual will be advised to self-quarantine and monitor for symptoms
    • The club member may return to the club after 14 days provided they are symptom/fever free and have a doctor’s note clearing them to return to the club
