READING: Today, City of Reading Mayor Eddie Morán issued the following statement in response to the closing of City Hall for the purposes of disinfection and its reopening after he learned that three employees tested positive for Covid-19 earlier this week.
“On Tuesday, I announced the temporary closure of City Hall and ordered all non-essential employees to work from home. Today, I am announcing that the disinfection and sanitizing is complete and safe for employees to return. City Hall will reopen for our employees on Monday, November 9th, but will remain closed to the public.
My administration fully understands the importance of the services we provide to our residents and are committed to providing a safe and clean work environment for our employees. Following our strict protocols along with guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines, a Reading-based, CDC-certified cleaning service company was hired to decontaminate and sanitize the entire building.
I want to thank our employees for their cooperation, our Emergency Management Services department for acting promptly in the best interest of our protection along with our Human Resources Department and supervisors for their sensitivity in handling this situation.
