Reading Winter Storm – Snow Removal Update

An update on the snow removal works happening in the City of Reading:

The City (the Public Works Department) has subcontracted two additional contractors to assist with the snow removal operations. We have increased our equipment capacity by 30 trucks, including a heavy-duty fleet and front-end loaders, and seven more crews.

We have also partnered with the Reading Parking Authority and the Reading Area Water Authority; they assist in providing personnel and vehicles (or trucks if available).

The snow removal operations will continue focusing on the primary routes and snow emergency listed streets following the secondary areas.

The designated snow emergency routes are available at https://www.readingpa.gov/content/snow-emergency-pag

While the snow removal takes place, we will continue widening streets all over the City.

At the time of publishing, the City has used 1600 tons of salt throughout City and has ordered more to restock in case of more snow episodes.

Special thanks to our Public Works employees that have been working non-stop since Sunday on 12-hour shifts.
