First Friday Downtown Block Party kicks off the City’s event schedule.
Today, Mayor Eddie Morán issues the following statement announcing the return of City downtown activities on Friday, April 1st, starting at 5 pm:
“I am very excited to announce the start of City events for the 2022 season in #DowntownRDG,” said Mayor Morán.
Some of the more popular events will be returning with a few changes to them, adding to the experience and their success. We are also developing new concepts for our residents, families, and visitors to enjoy.”
To kick off our 2022 events, we have a new and improved First Friday Downtown Block Party scheduled for April 1st on the 400 block of Penn Street. It is part of an extensive series of events that will make our downtown more vibrant and engaging. The inaugural event will have a wide variety of vendors, community groups, music, food, and more.
Joining the party on April 1st are Philadelphia’s jazz-fusion collective, Omar’s Hat, and The TriBe, R&B, hip-hop, and funk & soul six-piece band from Northeast PA.
Alvernia University’s CollegeTowne campus will also join the festivities, highlighting their new facilities. Site tours of the downtown campus and general information will be available for the entire community.
“This is just the beginning of an exciting and diverse entertainment lineup for First Friday,” added Morán. “In addition to the local and regional musicians, there will be interactive art features, fun activities for every age, local and regional food and drink vendors, and the continued tradition of craft brews and drinks by the Pop Truck.”
First Friday Downtown Block Party will occur on the first Friday of every month from 5 to 10 pm through the month of September.

“Estoy muy emocionado de anunciar el inicio de los eventos de la ciudad de la temporada 2022 en #DowntownRDG”, expresó el Alcalde Morán.

Para dar inicio a nuestros eventos de 2022, tenemos un nuevo y mejorado concepto para First Friday’s tipo Block Party en el centro de la ciudad programado para el 1 de abril en el bloque 400 de Penn Street. Es parte de una amplia serie de eventos que harán que nuestro Downtown sea más vibrante y atractivo. El evento inaugural contará con una amplia variedad de vendedores, grupos comunitarios, música en vivo, variedad de comida y mucho más.
A la fiesta del 1 de abril se unirán el colectivo de fusión con jazz de Filadelfia, Omar’s Hat, y The TriBe, con ritmos R&B, hip-hop, y funk & soul, banda de seis integrantes del noreste de Pensilvania.
El campus CollegeTowne de Alvernia University también se unirá a la celebración, destacando sus nuevas facilidades. Recorridos por el campus e información general estarán disponibles para el público general.
