Breast Cancer Support Services of Berks County Announces the Addition of New Team Member.
Jeanette Christophel

Breast Cancer Support Services of Berks County is pleased to announce that Jeanette Christophel has joined the BCSS team as Administrative Assistant/Volunteer Coordinator. The Board of Directors, team members, and volunteers congratulate and welcome Jeanette to the BCSS family.

Jeanette was born in Ephrata, PA and moved to Reading, PA, where she currently resides, when she was two years old. She graduated from Eastern Mennonite University in Virginia with a degree in English Education and a minor in TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language). Newly graduated and married, she and her husband Kevin went to Guatemala where they served 6 ½ years in missionary/development work among the Kekchi indigenous group. She returned to the United States with two young children and a third on the way. In her new role, as Administrative Assistant/Volunteer Coordinator, Jeanette will provide oversight for database management, donation tracking and receipt, manage supply inventory, act as staff liaison to the community awareness committee, and perform a variety of general administrative tasks. Additionally, she will assist with the recruitment, training and scheduling of organization volunteers to support community awareness, special events, fundraisers and general office support.

Jeanette has worked in a variety of jobs in the Reading area: Reading School District, Reading Public Library, Berks Community Action Program, Berks County Intermediate Unit, and as Administrative Assistant at her church, Zion Mennonite Church. She is a recent Breast Cancer survivor, and from that experience finds significance in working at BCSS. She has worked in support of women in a variety of roles over the years, and has found that having been through something one-self is a great way to connect with another.

Jeanette’s three children are now grown, and she has two small grandchildren. Jeanette enjoys reading, cooking, hiking, and, best of all, babysitting little Levi and Asher, her grandsons.

The Board of Directors and staff of BCSS congratulate Jeanette in her new role at BCSS and look forward to working with her.
