Reading Hospital Names VP of Orthopedics, Trauma, and Critical Care Services

Reading Hospital announced Thursday that Amanda McNicholas, DNP, MBA, CRNP, will take on additional responsibilities as part of the leadership team at Reading Hospital. In this new role, she will work closely with the Trauma Center leadership team to enhance Reading Hospital’s Level One trauma program and will also partner with Vice President of Perioperative and Procedural Services and orthopedic surgeons to optimize those services. Dr. McNicholas will also continue in her role as Tower Health’s Chief Advanced Practice Provider Officer.

Dr. McNicholas has served Reading Hospital and our community since 2005, when she joined the Trauma team as an Acute Care Surgery and Critical Care Nurse Practitioner. Since then, in addition to maintaining her clinical practice, she has taken on leadership roles in trauma, neurocritical care, and surgical critical care. She led strategic planning initiatives to ensure our services met Pennsylvania Trauma System Foundation standards in the role of Trauma Program Director and served as a liaison for Reading Hospital in the Pennsylvania Trauma Network. Her prior clinical experience includes practicing as an Emergency Department RN and Nurse Practitioner, as well as adjunct clinical nursing faculty for Drexel University.

She holds a Master of Business Administration and Doctor of Nursing Practice from West Chester University and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Temple University. She is dual certified as a Pediatric and Adult Acute Care Nurse Practitioner from Temple University and Thomas Jefferson University respectively. She also completed the Advanced Training Program in Clinical Quality Improvement at the Intermountain Healthcare Delivery Institute.
