Reading Hospital Foundation Hosts ‘No Shave November’

Beginning Tuesday, November 1, individuals from Reading Hospital and members of the community will participate in “Reading Hospital Foundation No Shave November” contest. The month-long event will raise awareness for men’s health, McGlinn Cancer Institute, and show support for the many patients undergoing cancer treatment and experiencing hair loss. At the end of the month individuals will vote the best beard, best mustache, best goatee, and most creative selfie. Participants who raise the most money and have the most supporters will also be recognized.

This year Tony Forino, a Reading Hospital grateful patient and Founder and CEO of Forino Co., L.P., is generously providing a matching gift up to $25,000 in support of the initiative.

“We know those who are battling cancer need a strong support system,” said Charles F. Barbera, MD, Reading Hospital President and CEO. “This year I will be participating in No Shave November to show my support to our patients at McGlinn Cancer Institute. I thank my Reading Hospital colleagues and members of the community who are participating and donating to this important cause. Together, we will make a difference in the lives of our patients.”

To participate in the event individuals are asked to make a commitment of $250 through individual and/or sponsored gifts from family and friends. Community members interested in joining No Shave November can contact Stacey Cole, Director for Stewardship and Special Projects at [email protected]. Registration closes on Monday, October 31.

Katherine Thornton, President, Reading Hospital Foundation added, “We appreciate the support and generosity of Mr. Forino, our team members, and the community as we strive to raise funds for programs, services, and life-saving projects at McGlinn Cancer Institute. Reading Hospital and the Foundation are committed to ensuring our patients have access to the services, technology, and resources needed when they receive a cancer diagnosis.”
