Reading Derby Girls Celebrate Ten Years

Reading Derby Girls (RDG), sports league out of Shillington is excited to announce a celebration of ten years in the sport of roller derby. On November 25, 2012, the league held their first intra-league game – a Friends & Family bout – featuring newly trained skaters in a fun mixer style game to exhibit the athleticism and fun of the newly founded team.

This Sunday, November 13 they are taking the track in another mixer-style game featuring skaters from past seasons, the current season, and guest skaters to mark the occasion. Doors open at 6:30pm and the game begins at 7:00pm. Tickets for the game are available online at universe.com/rdgderbygirls or at the door.

The league has merchandise featuring an original design to mark the milestone anniversary, available on their website: readingderbygirls.com/shop

In 2023, January 17 – February 22, the Reading Derby Girls host a recruitment event for individuals looking to join the league. Skating experience is not required.

RDG’s Founder Holly Jester stated:

“I didn’t know what derby was and I fell in love with it, and here we are. I came back for my ten-year anniversary because I started this thing and I think it’s only fair if I’m here. I’m really excited to be back with the girls, for one more time.”
