Reading Hospital – Tower Health to Host Community Health Fair at Centro Hispano

On Saturday, February 11, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Community Health Committee of the Family Medicine Residency Program at Reading Hospital will host a Community Health Fair at Centro Hispano, 25 N 2nd Street in Reading. Spanish and English providers will be present at the event.

“Bringing health education and information directly to the community is an ongoing priority at Tower Health,” said Charles F. Barbera, MD, Reading Hospital president and CEO. “Centro Hispano is a vital community partner and I thank our Family Medicine Residents for organizing this important event and for the work they do, every day, for the health of our community.”

The event will include free health screenings and information including:

A limited number of free fluoride applications, flu vaccines, and children’s books and activities will also be available for attendees.

Dr. Barbera added, “Primary Care is so important to maintain your overall health and wellness and to identify, treat, and manage any potential risks before they cause more serious issues.”

Other community groups providing care include: Drexel Ophthalmology interest group, Drexel Latin Medical Student Association (LMSA), PA Department of Health, and Tower Behavioral Health. Materials and supplies have been donated by Dr. Eve Kimball, Reading Hospital Community Wellness Department, and the Reading Hospital Family Healthcare Center.

Reading Hospital is committed to saving lives through early detection of breast disease. Reading Hospital’s Mobile Mammography Coach will be on site conducting screening mammograms. Appointments are required, and individuals interested in scheduling an appointment can contact 484-628-8611. Preventive screenings are covered under most insurance plans. The Patient Financial Assistance Program will work to enroll women who are under- or uninsured and meet eligibility requirements.
