Due to the inclement weather forecasted for Saturday, our butterfly release ceremony and Cultivating Community Garden unveiling has been moved to Sunday (May 21) from 1-3.
The LGBT Center of Greater Reading invites the public to its Memorial Butterfly Release and unveiling of the new Cultivating Community Garden on Saturday, May 21, 1pm – 3pm at the LGBT Center, 640 Centre Ave, Reading, PA 19601.
The Center will be releasing Painted Lady butterflies, followed by a lunch of pulled pork on a roll, macaroni and cheese, and baked beans with a bottle of water and a bag of chips.
“It’s no secret that our local community has experienced many losses recently. From the R.M. Palmer explosion; the missing teens in our city of Reading; the loss of young Javien Perch; and the legislation that has been introduced across the nation, which is incredibly harmful to the LGBTQ+ community.
Let’s come together in grief and remembrance to honor those gone too soon, in healing, in hope, and in solidarity as a community.”
This event is open to all! The price of the butterfly release and meal is $20, but you can purchase either one separately for $10.
Go to https://tinyurl.com/LGBTCRButterfly to register for one or both events.
