Reading Public Library S.E. Branch to Hold Grand Opening for Community Fridge

A ceremony to celebrate the opening of a Community Fridge will be held at the SE Branch of Reading Public Library, 1426 Perkiomen Ave. on Monday, June 5 at 11 am.  The Community Fridge is a joint project of Reading Public Library and The Food Trust. The partnership’s aims are to make healthy food more accessible to residents, reduce food waste, and provide food and nutrition education.

The project is supported by grant funding from the United Way of Berks County.  The main principle of this Community Fridge is Take What You Need, Leave What You Can.

The public is encouraged to attend the Grand Opening to learn more about the initiative and how to inform the community of this free community asset. The event is free and registration is not required.
