PennDOT Virtual Plans Display – PA 12 / Pricetown Road Improvements

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), announces a Plans Display for a project on Route 12/Pricetown Road in Alsace Township, Berks County.

This online plans display includes digital picture boards and a comment form available to the public until September 22, 2023.

The plans can be found by clicking here: https://www.penndot.pa.gov/RegionalOffices/district-5/PublicMeetings/Berks-County/Pages/Route-12-Elizabeth-Avenue.aspx

The project includes proposed safety improvements on Route 12/Pricetown Road between State Route 2016/Elizabeth Avenue/Hillview Road and State Route 2027/Skyline Drive.

The proposed improvements include a roundabout at the intersection of Route 12/Pricetown Road, Elizabeth Avenue and Hillview Road. A proposed signalized intersection is planned at the intersection of Route 12/Pricetown Road and Skyline Drive.

The proposed project will also reconstruct Route 12/Pricetown Road between Elizabeth Avenue/Hillview Road and Skyline Drive and include 8 foot shoulders. Additional proposed work is the replacement of the Route 12/Pricetown Road Bridge over Bernhart Creek with a precast reinforced concrete box culvert, drainage improvements, enhanced warning signs and high friction surface treatment on steep downgrades.

Construction is anticipated to begin in mid-2026 with an expected completion in 2027. All schedules are subject to change.

The purpose of the plans display is to introduce the project and receive public input regarding any questions or concerns with the project. It is also an opportunity for the public to review and comment on the project’s potential effect upon cultural resources pursuant to the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation’s 36 CFR Part 800 regulations implementing Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act.

The project documents can be made available in alternative languages or formats if requested. If you need translation/interpretation services or have special needs or have special concerns that require individual attention, please contact Brian Rasiul, P.E., Project Manager, at (610) 422-2378 or email at [email protected].
