Diversity Night at the Reading Fightin’ Phils

The Jewish Federation of Reading/Berks in partnership with the Greater Reading Unity Coalition announce Diversity Night at the Reading Fightin’ Phils game on Sunday, September 3. The game is against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats and will take place at FirstEnergy Stadium, 1900 Centre Ave Reading. Gates open at 4 p.m. and the first pitch is slated to be thrown at 5:15 p.m.

Diversity Night at the Fightin’ Phils is a night to celebrate our incredibly diverse community here in Berks County. The event is organized by the Greater Reading Unity Coalition which includes the following organizations: Jewish Federation of Reading/Berks, The Reading Branch of the NAACP, Centro Hispano, Islamic Center of Reading, LGBT Center of Greater Reading and Bring the Change. Each organization will have table set up in the Tompkins Bank Plaza before and during the game for the community to learn about their work.

A limited number of free general admission tickets are available at the Main Branch of the Reading Public Library, Wyomissing Library, Exeter Community Library and Sinking Spring Public Library.

Many thanks to our Home Run Sponsor, Sweet Street Desserts; and our Diamond Sponsors Alvernia University, Barley Snyder, Boscov’s, Eye Consultants of PA, Fromm Electric, Herbein, Jan & Jonathan Simon and family and Tompkins Insurance. East Penn Manufacturing and Elsayed Elmarzouky are RBI Sponsors, and our Patron Sponsors include Connors Investor Services, Customers Bank, Dine & Dash Urban Grille, Heidelberg Family Restaurant, Hillcrest Racquet Club, Shearer Technical, Rubina Tareen and Yeager Supply.

With their financial contributions, we are able to supply 5,000 general admission tickets to our sponsors and GRUC partners, host the Phillies Phanatic at the game, educate our community on diversity and celebrate something really special. This baseball game is the ideal setting for all of us to come together and celebrate the cultural diversity of Berks County and to root together for the home team.
