Albright College has launched a new co-major program in visual communication design. Combining the study of communications and art, the visual communication design co-major prepares students for professional careers that utilize visual design for client-driven digital and print projects.

Students will learn to deliver logo and branding, promotional materials, publication design, and visual design for web and social media.

“We’re excited to roll out this new co-major and minor,” said Heidi Mau, Ph.D., associate professor of communications at Albright. “Visual communication is a large part of our everyday lives, and we think this is a great opportunity for students across disciplines to learn more about this area and integrate it with future career goals.”

Albright’s visual communication design students will develop an understanding of visual communication and design practices, values, and requirements; develop skills in using digital design and production tools; learn principles that underly effective communication; and be able to create professional-level digital and print deliverables.

The new Albright co-major complements the college’s communications programs in journalism or public relations and advertising — and minors in media studies and strategic communication. Albright’s art programs include an art major, art administration co-major, and art history minor.

Cross-disciplinary majors are also available in digital communications and digital studio art.

More than half of Albright students take advantage of the college’s distinctive co-major program, which enables students to cross or combine nearly any program without taking longer to graduate.
