The Penn State Berks global studies degree program will host a forum with a presentation titled “How Hate Crime Laws Perpetuate Anti-Muslim Racism” from 12:15-1:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 25, in Room 121, Gaige Technology and Business Innovation Building. The event is free and open to the public.
Evelyn Alsultany, professor of American studies and ethnicity at the University of Southern California, is the featured speaker for the forum. Alsultany has authored “Broken: The Failed Promise of Muslim Inclusion” and “Arabs and Muslims in the Media: Race and Representation after 9/11.” She has also served as a consultant for Netflix, Amazon, and NBC Universal Studios to improve media representations of Muslims.

The bachelor of arts in global studies program offered by Penn State Berks is designed for students who are interested in a liberal arts degree with a concentration in global studies. Students engage in active and collaborative classroom experiences in addition to intensive study abroad and internships.
