Go Grava to Host Grand Opening Event

Go Grava, a high-quality, affordable bicycle and outdoor adventure gear retailer, announces its grand opening event on Saturday, March 23, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., at its new location at 840 N. Park Road, Wyomissing.

Attendees will be invited to register to win a free mountain bike and will also be guided as to how to obtain a Pennsylvania State cycling license plate, which promotes the safe cycling message as created by PA State Representative David Maloney.

A motivating cycling mileage challenge will also be announced in which members of the Boy Scouts of America (boys and girls) will be instructed on how to earn the prestigious BSA merit badge for cycling. Go Grava will support Troop 431 for the Scout Bicycle Merit Badge, plus any other troops that would like to participate. Troop 431 and Committee Chair Timothy Trout will be at the opening event to discuss how the cycling merit badge for scouts can be earned. All scouts who complete the challenge will earn a free Go Grava Accomplishment T-shirt.

At the same time, during the grand opening, Go Grava will launch a citizens’ mileage challenge wherein riders from all walks of life, ages, and abilities will be encouraged to log 100 miles of outdoor cycling between March 23, 2024, and Sept. 30, 2024. All who complete the challenge will earn a free Go Grava Accomplishment T-shirt.

The first 75 Go Grava grand opening attendees will receive a voucher worth two cheese slices and a soda from Nino’s Pizza, located in the North Park Plaza Shopping Center.

During the grand opening, Go Grava will offer a 20% discount on clothing and cycling apparel, a 10% discount on cycling bags and accessories, and a 5% discount on bicycles on the day of the event. The same tiered discounts will be offered to Berks County Bicycle Club, Berks Area Mountain Bike Association, and Schuylkill River Greenway members.

A Go Grava YouTube and Facebook livestream will be presented by Go Grava between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. and will be hosted by long-time cycling advocate, participant, and celebrity Dave Kline. A progression of interesting VIP guests will appear to discuss the benefits and opportunities of outdoor recreation and cycling available in the region and beyond. Guests will include PA State Representative David Maloney and others.

Formerly internet-based from Sheridan, Wyoming, where the company was founded, the team at Go Grava wants to contribute to Berks County and regional communities in a meaningful way by having a local presence.

Go Grava’s exciting plan to open its first brick-and-mortar location in Wyomissing comes after much research into the region’s proximity to world-class trail systems such as The Schuylkill River Trail, The Mount Penn and Neversink Mountain trail system, The Blue Marsh Lake trail system, the Berks County Parks trail system, the French Creek State Park trail system, and many other trail systems within an easy drive from Go Grava’s Wyomissing location as the epi-center for such riding and outdoor adventure and riding opportunities.

Go Grava offers products with a blend of North and South American technology and craftsmanship. Bonding elements from North and South America make Go Grava a truly unique brand representing the Americas as one cohesive entity.

Go Grava understands that not all products can be sourced from the Americas. It would be nearly impossible to start an adventure company or bicycle company with only Made in America products. However, Go Grava puts its focus on stocking at least 50% of its stores with products made in the Americas.

Go Grava also finds areas where parts like bearings and wheels from the USA can be integrated with different types of bags and bicycle frames from North and South America. Diversifying Go Grava’s supply chain and focusing on nearshoring is more difficult, but having a well-rounded supply chain that leans towards environmentally friendly while supporting jobs in North, Central, and South America is important to the Go Grava business model and world view.

Grava Adventure Corporation, a.k.a. Go Grava, believes that getting outside and having an adventure can improve anyone’s quality of life. Go Grava believes that outdoor equipment can be manufactured in a responsible way that rewards the producers, adventurers, and the environment alike. Go Grava seeks out and works with producers in the North, Central, and South American regions to bring the best American-made products to the market. Go Grava is the only company in North America that is importing bicycles from South America, specifically F. Duarte from Bogota, Colombia, and Marino Bikes from Lima, Peru. Nobody else is doing this.

Go Grava is proud to be an employee-owned corporation led by Aaron Johnson, who is the former COO of the Sufferfest Training Application and Product Manager for Wahoo Fitness. Aaron Johnson also served as a Military Officer in the USMC for 20 years, is an avid cyclist who enjoys bicycle touring, and has an explorer’s heart and mind, which has led him to travel most of the world.
