Reading-based nonprofit, My Gut Instinct, Inc., and Classic Harley-Davidson Chrome Angels are bringing awareness for Colorectal Cancer with its third annual Undy 500. This event is bringing the community together for free family-friendly fun from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 4, at the Leesport dealership.

Due to the April showers, we had to reschedule our event from last month. This has allowed us to now have a Derby Day Pre-Party, complete with Kentucky’s best drinks for those 21+ (including Beer, Mint Juleps, and Bourbon Spritzers). Couple your most fancy and colorful Kentucky Derby hat while wearing blue in honor of those who have fought or are fighting colorectal cancer.

Colorectal Cancer is the second most common cause of cancer death in men and women in the United States, affecting approximately 150k people per year, a third of which will die of the disease. This is because 1 in 3 Americans, even those with insurance, are not screened when recommended. It is a leading cause of cancer death in young men and women between the ages of 20 to 49! Colon Cancer is beatable in 90% of cases when detected early, and with appropriate screening, it is often entirely preventable.

Luckily, My Gut Instinct is making it easier than ever to get screened! Stop by their table to learn how easy it is to screen yourself at home, receive a free at-home stool kit if you’ve never been screened, participate in the “Poop Shoot” for a chance to win prizes, and get a free pair of Undy 500 boxer shorts when you do a lap around the 500m obstacle course in your favorite wheels (whether it be a motorcycle, bicycle, scooter, skateboard, rollerblades, unicycle, racehorse – you name it!). Those who have never been screened and own a motorcycle will receive a free oil change for their bike if they get their first colonoscopy in 2024.

There will be food for purchase from 272 BBQ, and everyone who takes a lap in their undies will receive a $5 food voucher. After your lap, do the Horse Trough Plunge in your skivvies, and get an extra entry for all the prizes we’re giving away! Additional prizes include: Four front row box seats for the Reading Phillies and a seven-day vacation for two adults and two children (11 and under) to a resort of your choice, with over 3,000 to choose from across the world based on availability.

From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., there will also be live music from Justin and Glenn and the chance to take pictures with mini racehorses thanks to Shady Hollow Assisted Riding. All guests will be able to enter through the Giant Colon in solidarity for all those who are survivors or victims of Colorectal Cancer. My Gut Instinct will gladly accept any donations for Colorectal Cancer Research throughout the event. Help us kick Colon Cancer in the arse!
