Mayor Eddie Morán, The City of Reading, and Keep Reading Beautiful (KRB), are thrilled to announce the January prize winner of the inaugural “My Super Neighbor” competition.

This year-long initiative aims to recognize outstanding home maintenance and promote community spirit, strengthening residents’ sense of belonging and appreciation.

Through a raffle-style drawing, Danny Guerrero, a resident of the 100 block of South Fourth Street, has been recognized for their outstanding dedication to maintaining and enhancing their community space. Danny has been instrumental in forming a neighborhood group centered around Idea Park (4th and Chestnut) over the past decade. With the support of the city and other community organizations, his efforts have significantly improved the park’s safety and attractiveness.

Danny’s initiatives, including providing a constant presence, park cleanup, mulching, landscaping, and adding lighting, trash cans, and doggy bags, have made a difference. The group invites interested neighbors to join their ongoing efforts as they strive to further enhance and advocate for their park and neighborhood in the years ahead.

Residents are encouraged to keep the spirit of the competition alive by maintaining their properties and public spaces and by continuing to nominate their neighbors throughout the rest of 2024.

Monthly prize drawings will continue to be held until December 2024. The competition will culminate with the 2025 summer block party grand prize drawing, which will be held in January 2025.
