The Berks County Parks & Recreation Department continues to present programs promoting nature, history, and outdoor activity throughout the month of May 2026.
Saturday, May 2 | Spring Fungi Foray with the Eastern Penn Mushroomers | 10 a.m. @ Angora Fruit Farm
Join members of the Eastern Penn Mushroomers club for a morning mushroom experience! Forays gather information and identification of all the fungi species living in an area.

Sunday, May 3 | Warblers & Wildflowers Walk | 8 a.m. @ Angora Fruit Farm
Join members of the Baird Ornithological Club and Parks’ staff and discover the sights and sounds of spring at the Angora Fruit Farm.

Sunday, May 3 | Make and Take: From the Springtime Kitchen Garden | 1 p.m. @ Berks County Heritage Center
Bring home the scents and colors of spring! In this beginner-friendly workshop, we will learn about how the kitchen garden provided all that was needed to bring spring to life.

Tuesday, May 12 | Trail Tales | 10 a.m. @ Bingaman House
Get wrapped up in a trail tale and discover plants and animal friends in our parks. Geared towards children ages 3 to 5.

Friday, May 15 | An Evening with the PA Bat Conservation & Rehabilitation | 7 p.m. @ Berks County Heritage Center
Learn more about the fascinating species that call Pennsylvania home and what we can do to support our flying friends. After the program, join us for a live bat release.

Thursday, May 21 | Indigenous Land Stewardship and Conservation | 7 p.m. @ Berks County Heritage Center
Join Amanda Funk from Widoktadwen Center for Native Knowledge to learn about Indigenous people’s relationship with their environment and traditional approaches to conservation.

Saturday, May 23 | Tower Health Trail Challenge: Union Canal Trail Guided Hike | 9 a.m. @ Berks Leisure Area
This guided hike, hosted by staff from Berks County Parks & Recreation, is offered through the Berks Trail Challenge. The hike will include natural and location history and is rated as an easy hike.
