From Reading Public Museum
The Foundation for the Reading Public Museum is pleased to announce a new membership program for nonprofit organizations that provide day-long and residential care services.
Cost of admission has historically been a barrier between access to the Reading Public Museum and nonprofit community support organizations wishing to facilitate small group visits for their program participants. With the creation of the Nonprofit Community Organization Pass, community groups can now provide enriching and educational visits to The Museum and the Neag Planetarium for those they serve in an affordable way.
Registered nonprofit organizations may purchase a Nonprofit Community Organization Pass for $225 per year for access to either The Museum or the Neag Planetarium, or $400 per year for access to both facilities. Once purchased, the pass provides one year of free general admission for up to four enrolled program participants (adults or children) per day, accompanied by at least one staff member from the pass-holding organization. Each pass may be used once per day. Each organization may purchase up to four passes annually.
“The Reading Public Museum believes access to educational and cultural experiences should be available to everyone,” remarked Geoffrey K. Fleming, Executive Director of The Foundation for the Reading Public Museum. “The new Nonprofit Community Organization Pass reflects our ongoing commitment to removing barriers for the individuals served by regional care organizations. We are proud to provide a program that encourages learning, exploration, and meaningful community engagement through regular visits to both The Museum and the Neag Planetarium.”
Removing barriers and increasing accessibility to The Museum and the Neag Planetarium remains a top priority. This new program was inspired in part by another accessibility-focused effort, which has been very successful — the Library Pass Program. Through the Library Pass Program, regional libraries can purchase multiple passes annually, which the public can borrow like books to use for free admission to The Museum and reduced admission to the Neag Planetarium. The Nonprofit Community Organization Pass differs from the Library Pass in that visits must be facilitated and chaperoned by at least one staff member from the pass-holding organization, and the pass may only be used to admit individuals currently receiving services from the same organization.
