In partnership with NBCUniversal Local’s nationwide Clear The Shelters™ pet adoption event, Humane Pennsylvania will host a fee-waived adoption event on Saturday, Aug. 29, to celebrate National Clear The Shelters Day!
In an effort to truly clear the shelters, adoption fees will be fully waived for eligible pets:
- Freedom Center for Animal Life-Saving
1801 N. 11th St., Reading- Free adoptions for dogs, cats, and critters over 6 months old.
- Betsy & Ted Lewin Adoption Center for Cats & Critters
2195 Lincoln Highway East, Lancaster- Free adoptions for cats and critters over 6 months old.

Since its 2015 inception, the Clear The Shelters™ initiative has resulted in nearly 1.2 million pet adoptions and raised over $5 million.
Adoptions include:
- Humane Pennsylvania’s 30-day Adoption Health Supplement.
- Spaying or neutering (prior to adoption).
- Vaccinations (including current rabies vaccination) and de-worming medication.
- Flea treatment.
- Microchipping and chip registration.
- Free 1 lb. bag of Science Diet pet food.

All potential adopters are required to go through Humane Pennsylvania’s diligent adoption screening process (approval is not guaranteed). Some restrictions may apply. Pets under 6 months of age are not included in this promotion.
