The Berks County Parks & Recreation Department continues to present programs promoting nature, history, and outdoor activity throughout the month of September 2026.
Saturday, Sept. 5 | Wellness Walk | 9 a.m. @ Berks Leisure Area
Join Parks staff as they get out on the Union Canal Trail to enjoy an hour-long brisk walk with like-minded friends. Wear walking shoes or other appropriate footwear and dress accordingly.

Sunday, Sept. 6 | Nature Journaling | 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. @ Berks Leisure Area
Come on out for this workshop series to focus on the art of nature journaling. Learn about ways you can practice mindfulness by creating your own journal inspired by your surroundings.

Monday, Sept. 7 | Concert: Ringgold Band | 10 a.m. to noon @ Berks County Heritage Center
Bring your own chairs or blanket and enjoy traditional band music against the backdrop of our covered bridge and the Tulpehocken Creek.

Tuesday, Sept. 8 | Trail Tales | 10 a.m. @ Angora Fruit Farm
Get wrapped up in a trail tale and discover plants and animal friends in our parks. This toddler-age program focuses on a nature topic each month partnered with a story and a craft.

Friday, Sept. 11 | Red Creek | 6 p.m. @ Gring’s Mill Barn
Red Creek Wildlife Center will offer a presentation on some of Pennsylvania’s native wild animals, featuring live animal ambassadors.

Saturday, Sept. 12 | Farm Market and Fest | 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. @ Berks County Heritage Center
The Berks County Heritage Center and the Berks County Department of Agriculture are pleased to announce the second annual pop-up market featuring a wide variety of Berks-grown produce and products.

Wednesday, Sept. 16 | Junk Journaling | 6 p.m. @ Berks County Heritage Center
This is an open session-style class where journaling friends can gather. Learn about ways you can use your journal and what supplies can be used to create one.

Sunday, Sept. 20 | A Birdseye View of Berks History | 2 p.m. @ Berks County Heritage Center
Alexa Freyman is an FAA-licensed drone pilot, local historian, and creator of the “Berks Nostalgia” blog. Join her as she looks to uncover the beauty in the county’s historic architecture and decipher whether the good old days were really all that good.

Saturday, Sept. 26 | Free Museum Day & Belt Running Day | 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. @ Berks County Heritage Center
Experience the Wagon Works ‘come to life’ during this unique demonstration. The belt running will begin at 11 a.m. and run through 4 p.m. Demonstrations of the Otto “Hit and Miss” Engine will take place at 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m., and 2:30 p.m.
