Spectacular means beautiful in a dramatic and eye-catching way.

We were captivated by the spectacular view of golden forsythia bushes blooming in unison!

 

(Latin) spectaculum – a sight, a show; spectacle- spectare – to look, regard

First known use: 1675

The Word of the Week (WOW) program was inaugurated at the Muhlenberg School District in 2010 and for the past eight years, the school district, local community and beyond have been involved in promoting literacy through the Word of the Week (WOW) vocabulary initiative.
