The Governor Mifflin Education Foundation will induct its first class of Distinguished Alumni during the organization’s annual “Night Out” signature event. The Distinguished Alumni recognition was created with the interest in identifying, recognizing, and honoring alumni who serve the school community and are an inspiration for Governor Mifflin students. The intent behind such a designation is to recognize the accomplishment, character, service, and reputation to those alumni who bring honor and credit to the Governor Mifflin School District while recognizing each individual’s significant achievements made to their respective profession/field or the legacy of service they have impressed on their community.
This year’s honorees are:
- Mr. Ronald Dunkleberger, Sr. (Mohnton HS ’53), Founder/President, Greater Governor Mifflin League
- Mr. John Hoke (GM ‘84), Chief Design Officer of Nike
- Mr. Mike Matz (GM ’69), Olympic Equestrian Team Member and Horse Trainer
- Mr. Danny Seo (GM ’95), Editor in Chief of Naturally Danny Seo/Founder and CEO of Danny Seo Media Ventures
- The Hon. Jeffrey L. Schmehl (GM ’73), US District Court Judge
- Mr. James Ulrich (GM ’60), GM School Board President
- Mr. John Updike (Shillington HS ’50), Pulitizer Prize-winning Author (posthumous recognition)
The event will be held Thursday, October 21, 6:00-9:00 p.m. (Alumni recognitions begin at 7:00 p.m.) at LedgeRock Golf Club, 1 Greenbriar Drive, Mohnton
