BCTV Launches Local Podcast Directory Page

Berks Community Television (BCTV) is excited to announce the launch of its Local Podcast directory. This page is a collective source for Berks-based, locally produced podcast content. It’s a perfect way to get your podcast fix while supporting local creators, and includes a list of podcasts and streaming links, as well as podcast descriptions.

Podcast subjects range from entertainment and education, branding and business, public awareness on societal issues, and more.

An estimated 82.7 million Americans listened to podcasts in 2021, with that number projected to be over 100 million by 2024. 52.6% of listeners find new podcasts by searching podcast directories. The 2021 NPR and Edison Research Spoken Word Audio Report found that while most listeners cite the ability to multitask as one of the main motivations for spoken word audio listening, young and multicultural audiences are more likely to cite other reasons such as connection, education, new perspectives, and self-improvement.

“As podcasting continues to grow in popularity, BCTV will explore and expand how we can incorporate this medium as part of your Berks community media experience. We are starting here by collecting those playlists that are ‘locally grown’ into one location for your exploration,” commented Executive Director Heather Adams.

BCTV is still accepting submissions for local podcasts to add to the growing local directory. Additions can be submitted by emailing [email protected] with the name of the podcast, link, and a brief description.
