Pennsylvania Ironmasters during the American Revolution

May 13, 2023 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

$5 – $8

At the beginning of the Revolutionary War, Pennsylvania’s ironworks produced a large percentage of Colonial America’s iron. The battles of Lexington and Concord were fought in the summer of 1775, and shortly thereafter, Pennsylvania began to take measures for the defense of the state. This included raising a militia, fortifying Philadelphia, and manufacturing gunpowder and arms.

During this May Second Saturday program, iron historian Dan Graham will discuss the vital role of Pennsylvania’s iron industry in colonial America and the key role ironmaster’s played in the success of the Revolution.

This program will be held in person, inside the BHC Museum Auditorium. The cost of this program is $5 for BHC members and $8 for non-members. The program fee includes admission to the BHC Museum. Fees will be accepted at the door on the day of the event. Coffee, hot tea, juice, and light refreshments will be made available for participants at 9:30 AM.

Attendees must call 610-375-4375 prior to the event to reserve a space.
