Call of Duty, one of the most iconic video games, dating back to when it first came out on October 29, 2003. The game has dominated first person shooters since then. Next month, the newest one, Call of Duty Modern Warfare will be released on October 25, 2019. Call of Duty is developed by Infinity Ward and published by Activision. The game is set to take place during modern warfare times, hence the name, Modern Warfare.
According to Activision, publisher of Call of Duty, this is the first Call of Duty that is going to be cross-platform. Cross-platform means that people on Playstation, Xbox, PC, etc. can all play together. This is a big deal because for years people have been split up and unable to play with each other because of the border between all the different gaming systems. The cross-platform system on the game enables people to play together.
The reason for playing with other people on Call of Duty is such a big deal is because it is a team-based game. You and your team work together in many different game modes to win. Having a friend on your team boosts the chemistry and will help you achieve victory. Inside every Call of Duty, there are normally 2 main game modes, Multiplayer and Campaign. In the last edition of Call of Duty, Activision added a Battle Royale game mode called Blackout. The game mode is basically a free for all where it is you against everyone else in your game. It was very popular and increased sales dramatically, so this year they decided to bring that back as well. Although it hasn’t been directly announced Activision is bringing it back, there have been many leaks on social media that show it is almost guaranteed it will.
The other game modes will be Campaign, Multiplayer, and Special ops. The campaign game mode is a storyline. You are in the army and play as a specific character. You complete different missions to complete the storyline. Multiplayer is playing online against other people trying to win in the mode you decide to play, alongside a team. Some of the different types of modes you can play inside multiplayer are Team Deathmatch, Domination, Capture the Flag, and Search & Destroy. Special ops is a new game mode introduced that is a blend between campaign and multiplayer. There hasn’t been much other information released on the game mode.
Based on all of the new aspects of the game it should perform well in the market. More people can play together with the cross-platform. New game modes are being included and old ones are being brought back. Furthermore, with every new Call of Duty new guns, maps, graphics, and in-game playstyles are introduced which keeps the game original yet different from everyone before it. Overall, the game should be of a high tier quality as every Call of Duty normally is. However, there is always the chance of it being over-hyped. That is for the consumers to decide when the game is released on October 25, 2019.
