Holiday Window Concert on Penn Street

Local artists bring holiday cheer to Downtown Reading. Free and open to the public, in person and online.

Holiday Window Concert on Penn Street

Community arts group Barrio Alegría and Berks Community Television are bringing the gifts of music, cheer and treats to families with the Holiday Window Concert, Dec. 23, at noon, in front of BCTV studio at 401 Penn Street in Reading. And for those who can’t make it in person, the performances will be livestreamed on Barrio’s Facebook page and BCTV’s YouTube channel.

The event is the fourth free concert Barrio has provided the Reading community to share festive flair, warm beverages and the talents of local artists. The purpose of the concerts goes beyond carols and Santa hats – it builds a camaraderie and sense of belonging for city residents, and it fosters Reading’s artistic spirit.

“Barrio engages community partners to bring programs that strengthen our neighbors’ connection to this city we call home,” said Daniel Egusquiza, Barrio’s executive director. “So, we’re thrilled to team up with BCTV to help us share the gifts of our artists with everyone.”

In previous years Barrio belted out their window concerts from their 140 N. Fifth St. location in the city. Partnering with BCTV gives Barrio a new location to reach Reading’s lively downtown corridor. Barrio collaborates with organizations such as the WCR, the Reading Musical Foundation and others to make beautiful experiences accessible and available to the community.
