Junior League of Reading Celebrates Thanksgiving at Olivet Oakbrook Club

The Junior League of Reading, PA, Inc. (JLR) will host a Thanksgiving celebration for the children and families served by Olivet Boys and Girls Club on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Olivet Oakbrook Club at 1161 Pershing Blvd. JLR will host crafts and activities, a comedy magic show, and prepare a full Thanksgiving dinner. JLR expects to provide dinner for about 150 people including children ages 6 to 18 and their families.

In addition to the annual Thanksgiving celebration at Olivet Oakbrook Club, JLR’s upcoming programming includes Community Connections Club and Young Women’s Summit. JLR hosts the Community Connections Club at the Oakbrook Club where members meet one Saturday a month to discuss topics relating to personal empowerment while learning about connecting with themselves, their peers, and their community. In addition, JLR’s signature program Young Women’s Summit has evolved into a two-day summit to empower middle school girls to be community leaders and is scheduled to take place twice this year, one weekend in February and March respectively. These are just a few of the many efforts the Junior League of Reading is conducting for their Youth Empowered initiative to improve the self-esteem of youth and empower them to become leaders in the community.
