Marilyn Fox’s Paintings to be Displayed at Clay on Main

Clay on Main will exhibit over 40 new paintings by Marilyn Fox this spring.  The public is invited to the opening on Sunday March 25 from 4-6pm, and the show will be up until April 29.  Her abstract, gestural works evoke a sense of harmony in the midst of change.

Fox’s mark-making begins as a kind of speech or writing; she explains, “I begin by painting gestural marks that are like the symbols used in writing. I obliterate those marks, add to them, scrape them off, and add to them. It’s like a dance, in a way.”  This confluence of language, visual art, and dance is something that is apparent in her vibrant, flowing oil paintings.  Her work can be viewed online at http://marilynfoxart.wixsite.com/marilyn-j-fox

Clay on Main is a non-profit artists’ cooperative, located at 313 Main St in the historic village of Oley. The studio offers art instruction and gallery space for local artists, as well as live music and more.  Clay on Main houses a complete clay studio, a slumped and fused glass studio, a live performance venue, and a yoga room, in addition to the co-op and gallery.  Clay on Main is open to the public on Tuesdays from 10-2, Wednesdays from 12-9, and Fridays and Saturdays from 10-2.  Gallery exhibits are also open on Sundays from 1-4, and additional viewing of the gallery can be arranged by appointment.
