The Salvation Army of Reading will host its first ever Charity Auction on Thursday May 11th, 2023 from 5:30pm to 8:00pm at The Reading Country Club. The event honors Lieutenant Lance Lillis and The Reading Fire Department, and aims to raise money for it’s various programs including supportive housing, food programming, holiday assistance, utility assistance, case management, violence prevention and the learning center. Sponsors include M&T Bank, Irish Creek Construction, Twiford Electrical and Customer’s Bank.
This year’s “Love Beyond Chance” Charity Auction includes a full dinner, cash bar, silent auction and live auction. There will be plenty of time before and after the program to network. During the program, board members, staff and program recipients will talk about The Salvation Army’s mission. The Salvation Army is pleased to announce that Joseph R Smith of P&J Auctions LLC will be leading the live auction, and retired WEEU radio host, Charles Adams, will emcee the event.
While this is the first year that The Salvation Army of Reading is hosting an auction, it has hosted an annual breakfast for many years. Last year’s event hosted over 200 people and awarded both The Other’s Award to Mary Hart and The Spirit of Reading Award to the Redner’s family and their warehouse markets.
