Tower Health to Celebrate ‘National Women Physicians Day’ on February 3

On Friday, February 3, Tower Health will recognize National Women Physicians Day. This date marks the birthday of legendary physician Dr. Elizabeth Blackwell, an influential figure who, in 1849, changed the profession of medicine by becoming the first American woman to earn a medical degree.

“At Tower Health we are fortunate to have some of medicine’s best and brightest women on our team,” said P. Sue Perrotty, Tower Health president and CEO. “This group of talented physicians is committed to fulfilling Tower Health’s mission of providing compassionate, accessible, high-quality, cost-effective healthcare to the community. She continued, “They work together, with their colleagues across the system, for the health of our patients and our communities. Each day they lead by example, mentor residents, fellows, medical students, and other allied health professionals, and are active in community organizations throughout our service area. I sincerely thank them for all they do and hope the community will take a moment to recognize their extraordinary efforts.”

Suzanne Wenderoth, MD, Tower Health chief medical officer added, “It is my privilege to be a part of, and help lead, women physicians across our health system. I look forward to continuing to work with them and commend them for their dedication to their patients and colleagues.”

Bernard Boulanger, MD, Tower Health executive vice president and CEO, Provider Enterprise shared, “In my brief tenure at Tower Health I’ve been extremely impressed by the high caliber of physicians across the health system. The women physicians at Tower Health could practice medicine anywhere in the world but chose our communities, and we are all healthier for it.”

Tower Health encourages the community to recognize a women physician who has made a difference in their health on social media using #NationalWomenPhysiciansDay and #WomenPhysiciansDay.
