County of Berks Media & Public Update 2020_06_10

Berks County Commissioners held their weekly update on Wednesday, June 10th, with the primary focus discussing law enforcement considering the recent tragic death of George Floyd. This meeting featured brief comments from the Commissioners and representatives from various levels of law enforcement including leaders at the county level and individuals serving in local roles.

Law Enforcement Panel speakers included:

• Eric Weaknecht – Berks County Sheriff
• Stephen D. Powell – West Reading Chief of Police
• Mark Hackney – Reading Police Officer
• Hector Santiago – Reading Police Officer
• Ramon Caraballo – Muhlenberg Twp. Police Dept. / Det. Sgt.
• Zachary Smith – Berks County Sheriff’s Dept. / Deputy Sheriff
• Miguel Castro – Berks County Jail / Captain
• Nelson Ortiz – Berks County DA / Lieutenant
