World’s Most Famous Soprano Will Open 109th RSO Season
Renée Fleming

This Friday, September 17th at 7:30pm the Reading Symphony Orchestra opens the most adventurous and ambitious season in the orchestra’s history. Renée Fleming, the world’s most famous soprano, headlines a spectacular concert at the Santander Performing Arts Center.

The evening promises to be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for Greater Berks and beyond. The Los Angeles Times hails Ms. Fleming as “one of the truly magnificent voices of our time…,” while the Wall Street Journal acclaims, “For sheer beauty of sound, no soprano today can match Renée Fleming.”

RSO Music Director Andrew Constantine shared, “It’s probably as exhilarating an opening as I’ve ever conducted. The program of favorites from opera, Broadway, and more contains works by Strauss, Marquez, Saint-Saëns, and The Sound of Music, just to name a few.”

At this Friday’s concert, some precautionary measures will be in effect.  Executive Director David Gross indicated, “Everyone at the Reading Symphony Orchestra cares for the safety of patrons, musicians, and staff. With that in mind the RSO is requiring masks to be worn at all times during the Friday September 17, 2021 concert featuring Renée Fleming. Please plan to bring your mask to this program. Should you forget, the RSO will have a limited supply of masks. No one will be seated [this Friday] without wearing a mask.”

The 2021-22 Reading Symphony Orchestra season offers eight concerts: six Classics performances, including appearances by world-renowned violinist Pinchas Zukerman for the Violins of Hope concert in November, and two exciting Pops programs with the music of Queen on New Year’s Eve and a spring concert celebrating legendary composer John Williams’ 90th birthday.
