Peapod by Giant Launches Grocery Delivery in Reading

Convenient and time-saving grocery delivery now available to shoppers in 12 new zip codes        

Carlisle, PA – GIANT Food Stores today announced in partnership with its sister company Peapod, the country’s leading online grocer, that the convenience of online grocery shopping and delivery is now available in the Reading, Birdsboro, and Temple communities.

Residents and businesses can visit peapod.com or Peapod’s mobile app to shop for fresh fruits and vegetables, seafood, meat, and dairy as well as best-selling national brands and GIANT private label products, all of which can now be delivered to their home or workplace. Peapod also delivers a wide variety of meal solutions such as ready-to-cook meal kits, chopped produce, and rotisserie chickens.

“At GIANT, we are focused on making it an easy shopping experience no matter where, when, or how our customers want to shop for their groceries,” said Matt Simon, GIANT vice president, marketing.  “The Reading market is important to our growth, and Peapod is a great addition that will help us meet the evolving needs of our customers.”

While shopping online, customers can create custom digital aisles with just a few clicks. Peapod offers several smart shopping features including a filter tool that enables shoppers to personalize their searches with 16 different features specific to nutrition preferences, including gluten free, nut free, vegetarian, organic and Non-GMO.  It also offers sorting tools that allows shoppers to sort products easily by things like unit price as well as sodium, sugar or fat content. 

“We’re able to create a personalized and curated shopping experience that helps busy consumers find what they’re looking for with just a few clicks,” said Walt Lentz, Peapod’s acting president. “This ease of use has been core to growing our business by double digits in the region for the last three consecutive years.”

GIANT BonusCard customers can automatically view their past in-store purchases on Peapod.com for fast ordering, and along with Peapod’s thousands of weekly specials, GIANT shoppers can also use store coupons online. In addition, customers can earn GIANT Gas Extra Rewards and A+ School Rewards for their online purchases. Groceries can be delivered as soon as the next day after the order is placed.

Customers and businesses in the following zip codes can now take advantage of Peapod grocery delivery: 19508, 19560, 19601, 19602, 19604, 19605, 19606, 19607, 19608, 19609, 19610, and 19611.
