Kutztown’s Keeny, Jones Garner Eastern Division All-PSAC Honors

KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Sara Keeny and Cheyenne Jones were voted to the 2018 Eastern Division All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) First Team, as announced by the league office on May 7.

It is the third All-PSAC East First Team honor in as many years for Keeny and the first for Jones. The duo helped finish off the 2018 season for KU with a 10-5 win in its regular season finale on North Campus Field back on Apr. 26. Keeny is one-of-three outfielders named first team and Jones is one-of-two utility players on the list, but the lone non-pitcher.

Keeny started 36 games, out of 37 her junior season, and led KU in batting average (.424), hits (53), runs (29), RBI (18) and stolen bases (24) in 125 plate appearances. Her 24 stolen bases led the PSAC, the .424 average was second, and .468 on-base percentage was eighth. She also led the PSAC with five triples.

In the KU record books, Keeny is tied for third all-time with 89 career stolen bases, which is tied for fourth all-time in PSAC history. Her .424 average at the plate ranks ninth all-time at KU for a season, and her .407 career average is tied for second all-time.

Jones played in 34 games making 30 starts during her redshirt-junior season. She finished with 31 hits, including six doubles (2nd on KU) and three home runs, and had 12 RBI and 13 runs scored with a .310 batting average (4th on KU) in 100 at-bats.

Rounding out the major awards in the Eastern Division, Bri Garber from West Chester was named the Athlete of the Year, while teammate Amanda Houck was dubbed Pitcher of the Year, and Shippensburg’s Courtney Coy was named Freshman of the Year.
