Scope Safety This Hunting Season

Mechanicsburg, Pa. – Hunting season is right around the corner, and according to the Pennsylvania Game Commission, the number of hunting-related shooting incidents is noticeably declining.

ATSPA CEO, Krista Brands, stated, “While the decline in hunting-related shooting incidents is positive, ATSPA continues to educate individuals on the importance of SMART hunting.”

When using a firearm, think SMART and be sure to follow the following five primary safety rules provided by the Pennsylvania Game Commission:
S – Safe Direction: Keep your firearm pointed in a safe direction at all times.
M – Make Sure: Positively identify your target.
A – Always Check: Know what’s beyond your target before shooting.
R – Respect Firearms: Treat all firearms as if they are loaded.
T – Trigger Caution: Don’t touch the trigger until ready to shoot.
