Word of the Week: Emerge

Emerge means to come up or arise.

We know spring is near when we see flowers like daffodils and hyacinths emerge from the snowy ground.

(Latin) emergere-to arise out of, e-out + merger-to dive, sink

First used in 1630

The Word of the Week (WOW) program was inaugurated at the Muhlenberg School District in 2010 and for the past eight years, the school district, local community and beyond have been involved in promoting literacy through the Word of the Week (WOW) vocabulary initiative.
