Anthony Lee Drafted by NBA G League’s Grand Rapids Drive

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Anthony Lee, the second all-time leading scorer in Kutztown University men’s basketball history, was drafted No. 55 overall by the Grand Rapids Drive in the 2019 NBA G League Draft.

The 6-foot-2 guard from Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, joined the Detroit Pistons affiliate, Monday, for the opening of training camp at Calvin University in Grand Rapids.

Lee averaged a career-high and program single-season record 27.4 points per game, while also establishing new KU single-season benchmarks for points (822), 3-pointers made (92) and free throw percentage (90.1%) as a senior in 2018-19. The acclaimed Lee also made 265 field goals, second most in a season in team history, 200 free throws (third) and registered 140 assists (sixth) in helping the Golden Bears to a 16-14 record and Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) quarterfinal appearance.

Lee is one of just three Kutztown players all-time to eclipse 2,000 career points, finishing with 2,292. He’s the program’s career leader in 3-point field goals (275) and 3-point field goal percentage (46.8%), and also ranks second in points, second in field goals made (773), third in free throws made (471), third in free throw percentage (87.7), third in steals (200), eighth in rebounds (656), eighth in blocks (102) and ninth in assists (324).

The 2018-19 PSAC East Athlete of the Year holds nine school game, season or career records in total. He netted a school single-game record 50 points at Pitt-Johnstown on Dec. 8, 2018, while also topping 40 on two other occasions.

Lee was a four-time All-PSAC East selection, including a pair of First Team nods. He received multiple NABC All-District and D2CCA All-Atlantic Region accolades along with being named D2CCA All-America Honorable Mention in 2018-19.

Formerly the National Basketball Development League (NBDL) from 2001-05 and the NBA Development League (NBA D-League) from 2005-17, the G League, sponsored by Gatorade, is the developmental league of the National Basketball Association. Of the 30 NBA teams, 28 have direct affiliates in the G League.

Lee, who was taken by Grand Rapids with the 27th pick of the second round in the 2019 NBA G League Draft, is one of 17 players in training camp with the Drive. The roster will be trimmed to 13 ahead of opening night, Friday, Nov. 8, when Grand Rapids travels to Mississauga, Ontario, to face Raptors 905, affiliate of the reigning NBA champion Toronto Raptors.
