Collaborative event to provide free produce, milk, bread to local families in need

On Saturday, May 30th, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, a food distribution event will be held at the Governor Mifflin Intermediate School, 600 Governor Drive, in the school parking lot. The event is a collaborative effort between the Olivet Boys & Girls Club, the Wyomissing Restaurant & Bakery and the Kuhn Funeral Home, to provide free, fresh produce, milk, and bread to local families in need. The Shillington Lions Club will also be providing volunteers for Saturday’s event. This event is an extension of Olivet’s ongoing food distribution efforts while clubs remain closed to normal programming and operations.

“The Olivet Boys & Girls Club will continue to strive to meet the needs of families and most importantly, the youth in Berks County. These are challenging times for everyone and we are honored to be able to assist in feeding the community through grab & go meals for youth and food distribution events such as this one. Throughout this crisis, it has truly been a collaborative effort thanks to the dedication of staff, volunteers, and community partners such as Hamid Chaudry and the Wyomissing Restaurant & Bakery,” stated Chris Winters, President and CEO, Olivet Boys & Girls Club

“I am thrilled to be able to facilitate another food distribution event in partnership with the Olivet Boys & Girls Club. By providing some of the essentials such as fresh produce, milk, and bread, I hope to alleviate some of the burden that local families may be experiencing during these times and it also helps our local farmers. I am grateful for the partnership and support of the Olivet Boys & Girls Club and look forward to continuing to work together to serve the community and those that need us the most,” said Hamid Chaudry, Owner of the Wyomissing Family Restaurant

Details and more information leading up to Saturday’s event will be published on the Olivet Facebook page.
