Gateway Health Sponsors Habitat Berks’ Miltimore Street Project

Habitat for Humanity of Berks County is pleased to announce that Gateway Health Plan, Inc. (“Gateway Health”), a leading managed care organization dedicated to caring for the total health of its members, has joined the Miltimore Street Project as a Rooftop Sponsor.

“At Gateway Health, our mission is to care for the whole person in all communities where the need is greatest,” said Karen Rollins-Fitch, Manager, Government and Community Affairs, Gateway Health.

“We know that safe, stable and affordable housing is an essential component of living a healthy life. We are proud to partner with Habitat for Humanity of Berks County on the Miltmore Street Project to support healthy housing for the residents of Reading.”

“Our community partners are vital to the success of Habitat Berks,” said Executive Director Tim Daley. “We are thankful for the support of Gateway Health.”

The new homes on Miltimore Street are the next step in The Buttonwood Gateway Project. The houses are designed to establish a healthy and supportive family environment with reduced housing density to improve the overall quality of life in that neighborhood.

“This project includes three city blocks, West Buttonwood Street, Tulpehocken Street and Miltimore Street,” explained Daley. “We are creating neighborhoods in which people will want to live and interact with others.”
